PAU and Veterinary Varsity teachers intensify struggle
Ludhiana February 15
The ongoing agitation of the university teachers for the UGC pay scales in front of the Thapar Hall of PAU continued with full vigor and enthusiasm today. The teachers unions of PAU and veterinary university reiterated their pledge not to carry out any work until the Pay Commission’s notification is issued.
Addressing the protest, Prof. Jaipal Singh, the leader of the Government College Teachers’ Association, condemned the current government’s neglect of education and health. He said that the manner in which the teachers are being humiliated is extremely shameful.
Dr. Harpreet Singh of Veterinary University said that people’s confidence has loosen day by day. PAUTA President Dr. Harmeet Singh Kingra said that the struggle will be intensified in the coming days.He said that It is very unfortunate on the part of the government that teachers leave their work and go on the path of struggle.
Addressing the protest, Apart from Dr. APS Brar and Dr. Mandeep Singh Gill, Secretary of PAU Teachers Association, Dr. Gurveer Kaur also spoke.
A large number of representatives of allied organizations and former teachers were also present in this protest.
Non Teaching Association of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary University
Union’s President S Didar Singh also addressed the protest. He said that if the government does not accept the demands, then they will also join dharna from Monday. Along with this, the students’ organization of GADVASU also announced to join the teachers’ strike by supporting it.
